Hexagon screw standard and introduction

1、Introduction to Hexagonal Screws

Hexagonal screws, also known as hexagonal nut bolts, are a type of hexagonal head bolt that is the most commonly used fastener in mechanical connections. Hexagonal screws are divided into conventional hexagonal screws, high-strength hexagonal screws, stainless steel hexagonal screws, copper hexagonal screws, and other types. Hexagonal screws are widely used in fields such as electronics, machinery, automobiles, construction, shipbuilding, etc.

2、Standard for hexagonal screws

(1) GB standard

GB (National Standard) hexagonal screws are a standard formulated in China and meet the requirements of national standards. The GB standard is classified according to the strength and size of hexagonal screws, which are divided into grades 4.8, 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9. Among them, grade 4.8 and 8.8 hexagonal screws are the most commonly used and suitable for most occasions in mechanical tightening.

(2) DIN standards

DIN (German Standard) hex screws are a standard developed by Germany and one of the widely used standards in the world. DIN standards are divided into several series, such as DIN912 and DIN933. DIN933 is a fully threaded hexagonal screw commonly used to connect two panels or cover plates.

(3) ISO standards

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) hexagonal screws are a globally recognized standard and a universal thread standard. The ISO standard hexagonal screws are divided into grades A, B, and C, with grade A hexagonal screws being the most commonly used.

3、How to select hexagonal screws

Choosing a suitable hexagonal screw requires considering the following factors:

1. Strength level: Select according to the strength level required for fastening components.

2. Size: Select the appropriate diameter and length to fit the parts to be connected.

3. Thread: Select the correct thread type to ensure the matching between the fastener and the connected part.

4. Material: Select appropriate materials according to the required environmental requirements, such as stainless steel, brass, etc.

5. Surface treatment: Treat as needed, such as galvanizing, nickel plating, etc.
